EVERY OTHER PAGE HAS A DISCLAIMER, THIS ONE NEEDED ONE TOO. HOWEVER,
THERE REALLY SHOULD BE NO WAY YOU COULD DAMAGE YOUR BABY BY CHANGING THE CABIN FILTER. MAYBE SNAPPING OFF A TAB
OR PUNCHING A HOLE WHERE IT SHOULDN'T BE OUT OF FRUSTRATION... SO I GUESS LIKE EVERY OTHER LITTLE WRITE UP
I DO ON THIS SITE, IF YOU BREAK SOMETHING (THOUGH I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU COULD) I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE.
stupid disclaimers.. now
lets have some fun
To complete this task, you will need to run to your local MINI dealer (or MINI web site) and get yourself
a MINI cabin air filter. These suckers are expensive, so expect to drop down at least $50.00.
MINI recommends that you change your air filter every year, I decided to wait until the 3 year mark. I would strongly
recommend that you do not wait 3 years, but rather listen to the MINI recommendation and change it yearly. You'll
see why later.
Step 1: Locate the cover of the cabin air filter.

You will find the cover of the cabin air filter located directly center under your innacurately named "glove box". (who
honestly stores their gloves in there?)
Step 2: Pop the cabin air filter cover off

You will notice on the outside of the filter cover there are two tabs facing you. If you reach your hand around
the back of the cover, you will notice another two tabs in symmetrical locations to the front tabs. All of the tabs are
a little bit of a pain to get off and it will take a little force. However, don't be afraid to break them because the
plastic is rather resilient.
The two tabs on the back will also be a little tricky since the location of them does not offer a whole lot of finger room.
Step 3: Remove old air filter.
You may have noticed that the new fitler you purchased is very long and doesn't look like it would fit
under the glove box. Do not fear as I did, the filter actually rolls up as you'll see when you remove the old one.

After removing the old filter, compare it to the new one and you'll see just how dirty the air can get in your cabin.

Step 4: Slide new filter into place
First, to get your bearings as to where this new filter is going to go as well as how the system works,
take a look at this picture.

Now that you know what is going to happen, simply slide the new filter into the track and push until it goes
no further. Make sure the little spikeys on the filter are pointing towards the top/passenger sides of the MINI.

Step 5: Snap cover back on.
Using the first picture as a reference, simply snap the cover back into place.
Finally, throw your old filter away.
That's it! You're done!
